This garden is growing too much food! We’re giving it away and eating and freezing all we can. We’ll make some changes next year – a little smaller and a lot more planning. It’s been a great garden year, however, in spite of some really uncooperative weather. To say that we eat good around here, is an understatement. We not only have good food and lots of it, but a variety that gives the cook a wide palate to play with.
We have five different zucchini or summer squash. A mistake, for sure, but the food bank is getting most of it. We had to buy cilantro several times this spring. That’s our fault for not keeping some always growing. Here’s a stand that I let bolt. It’s a great pollinator attractant and we’ll have enough seed to keep a steady flow growing next year. Cauliflower, cabbage, kale, kohlrabi, and yet to come, Brussels sprouts. Our brassica harvest is probably the best ever. We didn’t grow any large storage squash, but we have lots of carnival and butternut. The harvest will continue strong well into October. As I’ve said many times, it’s easy to grow good food. All you need is time.
I envy your garden produce! I rely on friends and family and local farms. It is a LOT of work to do what you have.
I love your news and recipes, and my CobraHead hand tool. I don’t know how many years I have had – ?20? maybe, and it always comes in handy. I have garden workers in my business of maintaining others gardens and I regularly introduce them to the tool and how it will better accomplish what they are trying to do.
